Victor Stans

Lt. Colonel Victor Sans was haunted by the astral projection of a soldier formerly under his command. He was a highly decorated officer who had served with distinction in the Vietnam War and Gulf Wars.

He attempted to kill himself many times but was always thwarted by the apparition. Eventually he suffered severe burns in a botched attempt to boil himself to death in a hospital hydrotherapy unit. After this incident he was sent to the Army Hospital at Fort Evanston, Maryland.

Upon meeting with FBI Special Agents Mulder and Scully, Stans appeared to Scully to show the classic signs of shellshock also known as Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome. (TXF: "The Walk")
