The Gargoyle is an unspecified possessing spirit, with an insatiable propensity for possessing men into killing men, distinctively by mutilating them with their eyes gouged, their cheeks slit with a Glasgow smile, and their throats slashed, even being made into clay sculptures once dismembered and covered in the clay when wet. The Gargoyle transfers hosts when unable to kill with one any longer, having moved from John Mostow to Bill Patterson, the former killer and the detective assigned to the case later continuing the killings. The demon seems to have a penchant for feeding off scarred and exhausted men who are constantly haunted, only to haunt them even more and drive them mad and disturbed enough to murder and mutilate. Mostow in particular would be haunted by and draw the gargoyle to prove its existence. In the end, after scuffles, more bloodshed, and even the two possessed killers nearly dying, both Mostow and Patterson were arrested, having gone mad and blamed it on the demon. The Gargoyle's original and other possible details are never revealed. (TXF: "Grotesque")
