The Second Elder (played by George Murdock) was a high-ranking member of the Syndicate.
History
He was present when Marita Covarrubias described the massacre in Kazakhstan carried out by the faceless aliens. (TXF: "The Red and the Black")
In 1999, the Second Elder was tracked to his home by a faceless alien, who killed him and assumed his features so that he could infiltrate the Syndicate. At an emergency meeting of the Syndicate in New York City, the alien posing as the Second Elder proposed joining forces with the rebel force against the colonists, an idea that was shot down by the Cigarette Smoking Man. This sudden and extreme proposition alerted the CSM to the alien's infiltration of their group and he charged Jeffrey Spender with killing him. Spender was able to enter the Second Elder's home and attempted to kill him with a gimlet weapon, but failed. However, Alex Krycek had also entered and killed the alien. (TXF: "Two Fathers")
