Dr. Sacks (played by Malcolm Stewart) was a scientist at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
Sacks investigated a rock brought to him by Agent Scully that she and Mulder obtained from a fleeing envoy in Dulles International Airport. Unbeknownst to them, the rock came from Tunguska, Russia and contained the black oil. While attempting to take a core sample, Sacks was splattered with the oil and soon infected by it. His state of stasis was investigated by Scully and Agent Pendrell, both of whom were unable to determine the nature of his affliction. (TXF: "Tunguska") Scully and another doctor seemed to keep him stable, though they observed a biological nest of some kind inside. Soon later, Sacks was killed by Vassily Peskow, who injected Sacks with some sort of poison. (TXF: "Terma")
