Nelson Mandela (died 2013) was the president of South Africa during much of the 1990s. (TXF: "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat")

During the 1980s, Mandela was imprisoned by the South African government for opposing the country's racist system known as apartheid. He was eventually released and became the country's leader after apartheid ended, dying in 2013. (TXF: "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat")

Many people mistakenly believed Mandela had died in the 1980s when he was still alive at the time, giving rise to a phenomenon known as the "Mandela Effect". (TXF: "The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat")
