Montgomery County is a county in the U.S. state of Maryland, bordering the northern part of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. The county is most famously known as being home to the Bethesda Naval Hospital. (TXF: Fight the Future)

Montgomery County is located north of the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C., but is located to the south of Frederick County. To the county's west is the U.S. state of Virginia. (TXF: "Improbable")

The county has its own police force, known as the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD). In May 2001, its police cars consisted of white Ford Crown Victorias and its policemen wore tan-and-khaki uniforms with black jackets atop them. (TXF: "Essence")
History
In 1998, Dana Scully and Fox Mulder went to Montgomery County to visit the Bethesda Naval Hospital and surreptitiously examine a dead Texan fireman's body who was suspected to have been killed by the black oil. (TXF: Fight the Future)
