Joan Gauthier was a woman who was infected with the black oil. She married Bernard Gauthier.
When Gauthier learned of her husband's ordeal, she went home to meet him, and found him, however, he was oddly unresponsive. She got scared and started to run, but her husband caught her, held her down and let the black oil infect her.
Under the influence of the oil, she left the house and got a plane ticket to Hong Kong in order to find Alex Krycek. She found him in the Hong Kong office of the J. Kallenchuck Salvage Broker company. She found the hit men there just after killing a woman. She caused them severe radiation burns and left. She found Krycek in the airport bathroom and let the oil transfer to him. (TXF: "Piper Maru") She was found later on the floor covered in oil. (TXF: "Apocrypha")
