Curt Brunjes (played by Jonathan Whittaker) was a Brooklyn native who owned Brunjes Copy Shop on 1525 Avenue J. He was a rabid anti-Semite who secretly published pamphlets from the basement of his copy shop, blaming AIDS and other world problems on Jews, and "exposing" the Zionist conspiracy to take over the world. He proudly displayed a Nazi flag in the basement.
Brunjes believed all Jews were part of a conspiracy to steal money from honest, hard-working people like himself, and for that reason he hated his neighbor, Isaac Luria, a Hasidic Jew who ran a small grocery store across the street from his shop. Brunjes asked three teenage thugs who distributed his pamphlets, Tony Oliver, Derek Banks and Clinton Bascombe to "deal" with Luria, but believed they would terrorize him into leaving the neighborhood, and was shocked to learn that they had murdered him.
When FBI Agents Mulder and Scully asked routine questions about Luria's murder, Brunjes openly displayed his anti-Semitism, but denied any knowledge or responsibility. When they pressed him further, he quickly refused to answer, accusing them of being agents of the Zionist "conspiracy" that he believed ran the government.
Banks later confronted Brunjes in the basement of his shop. Brunjes protested that he was now an accessory to murder, but Banks retorted that Brunjes was "just as pathetic" as the Jews he detested, too afraid to voice his opinions in public or accept responsibility for the effects of his hateful words. A short time later, Brunjes was strangled to death by a golem that Luria's widow, Ariel had created in her murdered husband's likeness.
