Pintero was shocked when he encountered a supposed ghost while investigating a malfunctioning pin-setter, only soon discover a corpse. He was interviewed by Mulder and Scully in the investigation, which Mulder believed to involved people witnessing harbingers of upcoming deaths - however, the spirits were visible only to people who were dying themselves. Spuller saw the harbinger of Pintero mere minutes before Pintero dropped dead of a heart attack.
